Codes of Practice
Managing the Risk of Falls at Workplaces
This model Code of practice applies to all workplaces covered by the WHS Act and Regulations applying in a jurisdiction where there is a risk of a fall by a person from one level to another that is reasonably likely to cause injury. It has been developed to provide practical guidance to persons conducting a business or undertaking, including those persons who design, construct, import, supply or install plant or structures, on how to manage health and safety risks arising from falls. It also includes information on a range of control measures to eliminate or minimise the risks.
To have legal effect in a jurisdiction, the model Code of Practice must be approved as a code of practice in that jurisdiction. To determine if this model Code of Practice has been approved as a code of practice in a particular jurisdiction, check with the relevant regulator.
This Code has been revised and republished in March 2015. An amendments table advising the changes that have been made to this Code is included in the March 2015 version.
The previous version is located on the Safe Work Australia historical versions page.
The Word version of this Code is accessible. The PDF version will be replaced with an accessible version as soon as is possible.
